Vestry Report The latest meeting of the Vestry was held on Tuesday, November 1st. The first thing to say is that I was over-optimistic in thinking that this would be my last meeting as Secretary! The Treasurer and Secretary are always appointed by the Vestry at the last meeting before the AGM and this will now not take place until December 6. The AGM itself being on Sunday, December 11th this is to allow time for the Accounts to have been audited at least a fortnight before the AGM. The meeting took place in the absence of the Rev Lesley-ann who is taking at least 4 weeks leave because of Ashley’s illness having taken a turn for the worse. The first item on the agenda for any Vestry meeting is prayer and this time prayers for the sick were more earnest than usual. The rest of the meeting went smoothly and was concerned with more or less routine business. We are still trying to get a firm to give an estimate for fitting a new central heating boiler. One gentleman has come and looked at the old one but has not given a quote. We are going to contact him again in the hope that something can be done possibly before the end of winter. There was a brief discussion of whether “St Nicholas” might be visiting church again before Christmas but this seemed to be a bit uncertain. Incidentally, if anyone would like to join the Vestry at the AGM there is just one vacancy. Please, if you would like to join give your name to me in writing together with the names of a proposer and seconder before the meeting. Meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30 pm and do not usually go on beyond 9 pm, 8.30 if we are lucky! Paula R.
