Monday – Saturday (1 – 24 December)
Spend about 15 minutes together when we’ll open a window on our
Alternative Advent Calendar from Embrace the Middle East and discover
how our donation has helped those living in poverty or war or with injustice.
We’ll read a short Bible passage; hear a short contemporary reflection and
then think about it as we listen to a Christmas carol as a candle lights the
room
The church is open from 10 am daily for tea/coffee & conversation
Star-gazing. A Christmas poem.
The message had always been
specific:
The place; the time; the pedigree.
All the authorities knew about it:
Astrologers, magi, priests,
prophets, stars.
They knew what was coming.
The predictions
Were infallible. Elderly whiskery
faces
Wrinkled to grins as they
considered
The chubby thing. Are you sure
it’s the place?
They asked. The baby,
understandably,
Didn’t reply. Nor did the parents.
Shouldn’t there be strawberry
marks?
Royal indications? Asked
Melchior.
This is as they usually come, said
God
