Helpers wanted for St Oswald's Stall at Castlemilk Family Fun Day 11th June Our Church will have a presence at this year’s Castlemilk Family Fun Day on Saturday 11th June, 11am - 3pm. We will use this event to tell people about the Church, it’s mission and our new “Cherish Programme” of community engagement. This is a great chance for us to meet people, make friends and spread the word about our Church. Willie & Linda, our new development workers will be there to tell people about the Men’s Shed, Banner Group, Gardening Activities and much more. We plan to have nice things to give away to bring happiness to our community of families. We need your help to staff the stall and also need your ideas about what “goodies” we can give away. Our stall will be in the big hall in Castlemilk Community Centre from 11am to 3pm on the day. If you can help, even for half an hour, get in touch with a member of the Vestry to offer your time. Vestry Notes: The latest meeting of the Vestry took place on Tuesday, May 3 rd. The first item of business was a report from Willie Whitelaw who is in charge of the Men’s Shed project. He has been very busy going round the local area sounding out people about their views on having a Men’s Shed at St Oswald’s. So far everyone he has spoken to has been in favour of it; admittedly, he hasn’t spoke to the occupants of all houses in St Oswald’s Glebe yet! He has found twelve men who have said that they would definitely like to use the shed if and when it is built. After giving his report and being thanked for all that he was doing Willie left the meeting. Another project which will have started by the time you are reading this is the Banner-making project which is part of WOW (Wider Opportunities for Women). The arrangements for this have been made by Linda Hardie in addition to her duties as Youth Development Officer. Also by the time this magazine is printed I hope that the new kitchen will be completed, or nearly so. John Caullay was due to start work on May 10 th and to take a fortnight over the job. StOM Page 5
