aining for Congregations
St Margaret’s congregation includes quite a few people whose families include
people with mental illnesses. So, we should all be particularly interested in this
training that is being offered.
Communities often have incorrect ideas about mental illnesses, including what
they are, what causes them, and how
to respond to a person with a mental
illness. As a result, many people with
mental illnesses experience stigma
and discrimination that can delay
them from seeking appropriate help.
This training is designed for Congregation members and those working
in community services to gain a
greater understanding of mental
health matters, and how you can
help.
Run by Rev. Miriam Parker-Lacey,
the training will be over 3 hours and
includes a booklet on Mental Health
Matters.
This training is being offered at both
the Coast (Bega UC) and in
Canberra (Wesley UC). Choose the
location that best suits you.
Bega UC – Thursday 24 November
2016, 9:30am – 1:00pm
Wesley UC – Friday 25 November
