Introducing Margaret Middleton
Whilst Chris Lockley is away on long leave, Rev Margaret Middleton will be providing a part-
time supply ministry to St Margaret’s. Margaret will be with us from 5 June to 13 August
2017. During that time she will conduct worship services for us five times, the first time being
on 11 June (Trinity Sunday). She will offer Holy Communion on the first Sundays of July and
august and will also provide HC at Goodwin Ainslie on the first Mondays of those two
months. Margaret briefly introduces herself below:
Margaret is a retired Uniting Church minister worshipping at Tuggeranong Uniting Church
where she and her husband Iain, have been members for 26 years. Formerly a primary
school teacher and mother of four, she candidated for the ordained ministry in 1996, was
ordained in 2001 and has served in two full-time rural placements. Since retiring in 2006,
she has provided supply ministry to several congregations in the Canberra Region
Presbytery and in one on the Far North Coast of NSW.
Iain and Margaret live in Chisholm where they enjoy gardening and managing 3 chooks.
They have 2 grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. When time permits, they
enjoy caravanning. Margaret also enjoys reading, walking and bike riding. She is passionate
about encouraging people to grow in their faith. To that end she is the leader of several
groups in the Tuggeranong congregation which have read and discussed some of Marcus
Borg’s books, and have been challenged by the DVD series “Living the Questions”, “Painting
the Stars” and currently “The Jesus Fatwah – How to Love Your (Muslim) Neighbour.”
