Joint Choir Concert and CD
The joint St Margaret’s and Holy Cross choir has been going for over thirty years, and
together with other joint activities, acts as a glue binding the two congregations
together.
On Sunday 5 June, commencing at 2 PM, the choir and some friends will present a free
concert in the church and all are welcome to attend. It will perform around 20 pieces
from its current and past repertoires. After the interval, during which afternoon tea will be
provided, there will also be performances by blues duo Mark Bishop and Kevin
Bradley, pianist David Hunt, duet Margaret Erickson and Robyn Swadling, soloist John
Dyer and others yet to be confirmed; before the choir returns to finish off the concert.
The choir is also planning to release a CD of selected pieces later in the year. The title of
the CD 'Good Faith' reflects our common faith, celebrates our two congregations' unique
partnership, and recognises the good faith of the singers from both congregations who
sing together week after week and in joint services.
A legacy left by Phyllis Berriman, a past member of the choir, will be used to make the
CD. If our joint choir can make a CD of its past favourite songs, any church choir can do it
- there are wonderful church songs out there, old and new, traditional, gospel and nonWestern.
Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome to join the choir, which rehearses from 6.30 - 7.30
PM on Thursday evenings in the church. Don’t wait for an invitation - just go along. It is
not too late to be a part of the choir as it records the CD - or even to be in it for the
concert.
