The “official” head count indicated there were 87 audience members who donated $540.
After covering expenses, the balance will go towards the as yet unknown licence fee for
making the CD that the choir is planning to release later in the year. The title of the
concert and the CD 'Good Faith' reflects our common faith, celebrates our two congregations' unique partnership, and recognises the good faith of the singers from both
congregations who sing together week after week and in joint services. A legacy left
by Phyllis Berriman, a past member of the choir, will also go towards the CD. If our joint
choir can make a CD of its past favourite songs, any church choir can do it - there are
wonderful church songs out there, old and new, traditional, gospel and non-Western.
Two of the pieces sung by the choir were by Vivien Arnold who was in the audience on
the day. Viv wrote to the choir’s wonderful musical director, Susan Reid, saying “Thank
you so much for singing my pieces and for inviting us to hear them today. I loved how the
choir sang them; The Gloria was so fresh to me in your interpretation and I much prefer it
that way. Lins and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole concert. Many congrats on such a
smorgasbord of music - so eclectic and entertaining. I really would like to pursue the
possibility of doing a joint effort around this time next year.” Viv has invited the choir to
sing with her Queanbeyan choir!
Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome
to join the choir, which rehearses from
6.30 - 7.30 PM on Thursday evenings
in the church. Don’t wait for an invitation - just go along. It is not too late to
be a part of the choir as it records the
CD or for when it performs with
Viv Arnold’s Queanbeyan choir next
year.
