Photography Award 1
The Ballarat International Foto Biennale recently announced the final-
ists for its inaugural Alane Fineman New Photography Award. This
award places the focus on photographic artists working in the Asia
Pacific region; seeking work garnering critical attention to bring before
international audiences.
The six finalists are: Madeline Bishop (Australia), Grayson
Cooke (Australia/NZ), Anton Gautama (Indonesia ), Kehan Lai (China),
Hyungjo Moon (South Korea), and Yichen Zhou (China).
Each finalist will receive a solo exhibition within the 2019 core program
in a venue alongside other finalists, and one-on-one support from
Biennale curators in the realisation of their exhibition.
All applicants will have their submissions reviewed by an international
jury of leading curators and gallery directors. Judges will award one
cash prize of $10,000 to an overall winner, with an extra $1,000 being
awarded the People’s Choice Award, as voted by the public.
The Prize Announcement is scheduled for Sunday 24 August at 3pm.
The exhibition will run from 24 August – 20 October 2019, Mon to Thurs
9am – 5.30pm, Fri 9am – 8pm, Sat 9am – 5pm, Sun 9am – 4pm. The
Venue is the Myer Ballarat Basement, 301 Sturt St, Ballarat.
