Rachel’s Rotary The Rotary Club of Canberra Sunrise meets for breakfast each week at Regatta Point and it was a special meeting last week when our daugh- ter, Rachel, and another recipient, Phoebe, were both acknowledged with a Pride of Workmanship Award. Rachel was nominated by her father, Don, and endorsed by her boss, Dr Justin Garrick, the Head of Canberra Grammar School. Rachel is the Events Manager at Canberra Grammar and through her 10 years in this job she has organised many special events including the annual fete, probably the larges annual event, to perhaps a break- fast for the Head and some parents, a funeral service for an ex-student, the Sony Camp for handicapped children and the annual Dawn Service on Anzac Day just to name a few. Dr Garrick stated that "she has the highest regard of her colleagues and of the Canberra Grammar School community. She gives with passion, skill and great personal generosity to all that she does and she has been instrumental to the success of countless School events over the past 10 years. She works long out of hours and always with good humour and total commitment to the life and community of the School. She cares equally for students, staff and families and, in so doing embodies everything we seek to achieve in our events. She is supremely organised, creative in her vision, collaborative in nature and, above all, she never seeks or ac- cepts the limelight that she deserves.” This was a wonderful family occasion and an opportunity for us to acknowledge our pride in our daughter for both her work and personal life. - Margaret and Don Left: A proud moment Photos on these two pages provided by Margaret Erickson.
