St. Margaret’s News
July 2015
St Margaret’s Uniting Church Hackett is an inclusive, welcoming
and caring Christian community which highly values engagement
with the wider inner north community of Canberra.
News from Church Council
At the congregational meeting on the 21st of June, we gave the go-ahead for the
conversion of the TV Room at Ross Walker Lodge into another bed-sitter for a
resident with disability. It is hoped that construction work will be done in a 3 to 4
week period some time in August to October, with completion by the end of
October at the latest.
UnitingCare Disability will no longer be using 210 Antill Street for Stepping
Stones for Life purposes from 1 July. Alison Cooper-Stanbury will continue
working with UnitingCare Disability, but will be working from the offices of Capital
Community Housing at Weston. Alison’s role there will be focussed on finding
suitable accommodation options for people with disability.
Church Council is examining options for renting 210 Antill Street for other
purposes. Minor repairs and maintenance will be carried out at 210 Antill Street
over the next month in preparation for renting.
Please pray for Church Council as we consider the various options, that we may
choose an option which enhances the mission of our church community. If you
have any thoughts as to how 210 Antill Street could be used, please talk to me or
other members of Church Council.
