Peter Walker to UTC
Rev Peter Walker preached on 3 February at the Holy Communion service at
Wesley the day before he commenced as the new Principal of the United Theo-
logical College at Parramatta. Margaret Erickson reports “Peter spoke about
the role he will perform as Principal and his hopes for the future for the college
and students for ministry. It was a fine service with beautiful music including
choral communion and at the conclusion the congregation sang the blessing to
Peter The Lord bless you and keep you. It was most fitting as he was a much
loved minister of Wesley 2002 - 2008.”
Peter Walker studied history, philosophy, and theology at the University of
NSW, McGill University, and Charles Sturt University. He has previously served
as a Visiting Fellow at Dunmore Lang College, Chairperson of United Theologi-
cal College Council, Chairperson of the Presbytery of Canberra Region,
and President of the ACT Council of Churches. He is currently a Board member
and Assistant Editor of the International Journal of Public Theology. Peter is a
Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church in Australia and joins UTC from his
position as Assistant Director of the Public and Contextual Theology Research
Centre at Charles Sturt University and Acting Director of the Australian Centre
for Christianity and Culture.
