Remembering George
One of our nonagenarians, our dear friend George Yuille completed his life journey on
1 January 2016. The son of a Scottish Presbyterian Minister, George was born in
Dunedin, New Zealand on 4 October 1920. The family returned to Britain in 1928.
George studied chemistry at Edinburgh university, obtaining a first class honours degree.
He met Isobel there and she became his wife for 68 years, until she died in 2012. George
and Isobel moved to Australia in 1990 and became a part of our lives at St Margaret’s. He
served this church very well as Treasurer, Elder and Councillor, and participated in many
activities on a regular basis as well as being a faithful attendee at worship services.
At a service to celebrate George’s life on 27 January, his family shared that George
attended whether or not he thought highly of the Minister of the day. We will miss George,
but give thanks for his life and his time amongst us in this place.
