We just came back from a visit to Melbourne and St Peter's Cathedral had pay-
Wave installed all around the Church, wanted $5 to take a photo, $5 to light a
votive candle and say a prayer and a bloody gift shop with LED rope lights
selling all sorts of souvenirs inside the cathedral!
I was livid and looking for someone to ask if they'd read the Bible and under-
stood that Jesus upturned the tables of the money changers and stall holders in
the temple!!! Thank God my wife held me back and I walked out in disgust. Rant
is half way through.
We then went to St Patricks Anglican Cathedral, the biggest and most opulent in
the Southern Hemisphere. No charge to take a photo, no tacky payWave stands
and no mandatory fee to take a candle and pray. I was in awe of this amazing
place, lit a candle, prayed and left a sizeable donation in the discrete slot in the
wall.
I am disgusted with the commercialisation of the Catholic Church, no wonder
they are listed as one of the wealthiest "businesses" in the world!!
Rant over, sorry, not your fault at all that I was triggered!!!
