LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
SEPTEMBER 2018
Dear Members,
As we enter the end of Summer, we are
ramping things up to ensure for favorable
course conditions in the near future. As many
are aware, the new practice area renovation
is underway. Both putting green and chipping
have been planted. Both putting surfaces were
planted Tiffeagle Bermuda, with collars planted
TiffGrand, and the remaining turf 419 Bermuda.
Bunker renovation will be starting as soon as
the practice area is complete.
Along with the renovation, we are preparing
for our Fall pre-emergent/fertilizer application.
Post-emergent applications are becoming more
aggressive. The combination of the two will
ensure a quality/healthy playing surface, while
minimizing weed pressure moving into Fall and
eventually Winter.
Moving forward, much of September’s focuses
will be directed towards projects that are
much more detail oriented. Landscape beds
will continue to be reestablished and cleaned
out. Native beds will begin to be cleaned out
of woody plant materials, drainage issues
addressed, etc.
In all, the month of September should be an
exciting month. With renovations taking place,
and the shortening of daylight hours, we hope
to take advantage of the following weeks, with
the goal of providing a consistent, healthy
playing surface.
