I’d like to start this letter by congratulating our
new Club Champions: Kirk Irvin, Young Shon,
Ed Longley, Tom Grehl and Liz Breza! I’d also
like to thank all the players that participated in
this great event.
Looking towards October, we will begin to feel
the effects of the Florida Golf Season as the
City of Jacksonville and St. Augustine wake-
up to new golfers and a higher demand for tee
times. As always, I will keep our membership
up to date with outings and any other large
events that might affect your regular tee times.
We have been able to build a better list of
reciprocal clubs, so if there ever comes a time
where we cannot accommodate you here at St.
Johns, let us know and we will be happy to find
another facility to play at.
The introduction of the new Golf Genius
software has also been a huge hit with the
Live Scoring and Registration features. Please
remember that if you do not register for a
League or Event, you will not receive any
invitations or results. If you need any assistance
with registering for a league or event, please let
someone in the Golf Shop know, and we would
be happy to help you.
I’d also like to cover our next big event, the
2019 Men’s Member-Member. The Member-
Member will run the same format as the
previous year’s, and we look forward to
participation from our members. This year, men
60 years or older will have the option to play
6
the White/Silver combo tee’s while all men 59
and younger will play the Blue/White combo
tee. Teams will be divided into 6-8 flights
depending on the size of the field. The lowest
net team from each flight will move on to a
shootout which will be held on the #9 & #18
holes.
Our newly formed Monday Men’s Game has
started off well and after a couple weeks of
play, we have smoothed out some of the rough
edges and look forward to high participation
in this game as well. The new game is a Net
Stableford format, where players are placed
into Blind-Draw teams after their rounds to
combine the players points to create a team
total. The team with the highest amount of
points wins.
Lastly, we will be introducing a new glow ball
event for late-October. It will be a spin-off of
the Drive, Chip and Putt held at Augusta every
year. Players will use glow balls to drive, chip
and putt with to collect points in each category.
Players will also be placed into flights according
to their age. The player with the highest
amount of points within each flight will win
shop credit.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Dick
