LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT JUNE 2019 To members of SJGCC, The heat and extremely dry conditions have become the standing topic of conversation each day on the maintenance team. Even though we are not unfamiliar to the high temperatures in Florida, the low humidity is not as common and combined with limited rain fall the moisture is quickly evaporating out of the course. We are monitoring conditions very closely and conserving our water supply carefully, targeting priority locations on the course by isolating irrigation cycles through the course. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we amended our aerifiation schedule. We are committed in maintaining the health of our greens and we do not want to endanger our root system and putting surface. The extended forecast has moisture returning to our area soon with increased humidity and chances of rain early in June. These will be safer conditions to aerify. We feel the sod work on number nine went well and our team was able to adjust our methods and improve the process prior to moving to our next green. Through rolling and targeted watering, the new sod has taken very well and is blending with the existing green very well. We look forward to continuing our work to eradicate the intrusion. Thank you, Andy Maguire Superintendent 6
