LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
St . Johns Members ,
This will easily be the most memorable year in the Club ’ s history . Traditionally , we would look back , fondly on the year and reminisce of the accomplishments , great golf and celebrate the season . This year however , we are more excited about looking forward to 2021 than discussing the pandemic and the shadow it cast over the last nine months . Even still , while COVID-19 looms over us , we remember how blessed St . Johns is to have an incredibly supportive and valuable group of members . Thank you to all who have chosen to call St . Johns home . We hope you found enjoyment and reprieve from the year ’ s distractions while at the Club in 2020 . Through the remainder of this letter , we will be previewing the exciting updates for next year .
In April , to assist members in social distancing while on the course , privately owned golf carts were allowed to be used . Our expectation was for this to be a short-term during the pandemic , but as the year progressed , we noticed the enjoyment this brought . In 2021 , we will be introducing a Trail Fee option for all members choosing to use their privately owned cart . Each cart must meet the Club ’ s criteria for specifications , insurance and maintenance prior to being permitted on course . The Trail Fee will be $ 1750 per member . Please see a member of the Pro Shop staff for more information on requirements or to schedule an inspection starting January 1st .
The Learning Academy at the Driving Range has routinely been recognized as a great practice location for golfers striving to develop and improve their game . In early 2021 , the Academy will now be operated exclusively by St . Johns . Our Director of Instruction , Al Consoli , will be the primary instructor for the venue and is eagerly looking forward to building an exceptional facility our members can strengthen their skills . Offerings for private instruction and Academy access will be available in January of 2021 .
We end 2020 with a very strong membership base of 259 total members . The active recruitment of new members and referrals from our current membership is important for St . Johns as it allows the Club to continue to provide exceptional weekly games , club tournaments and events . With the assistance of the Competition Committee , our Head Professional , Brad Calkins , is excited to work towards making this year ’ s tournament series very memorable !
Membership dues in 2021 will modestly increase by 3 %. The initiation fees will increase January 1st to $ 2500 for full members and $ 1500 for weekday members .
