NOTE FROM THE TEACHING PROFESSIONAL WINTER 2019 From the Lesson Tee Happy New Year to Everyone, February’s goal for the Player Development Program is to make those resolutions (for golf) a little easier to keep. The first announcement for 2019 is that St. Johns is excited to resume the Wednesday clinics for Junior and Ladies. We will continue with the previous schedule beginning with the Juniors at 4 p.m. with the Ladies to follow at 5 p.m. every Wednesday. I would encourage everyone to send in(jmousley@ stjohnsgolf.com) topics they would like to see covered or even reviewed from last year as we begin to create content for the year. With every New Year, new equipment from all the major manufactures is introduced and 2019 is off to a quick start. Over the past few weeks we have received the new line from Callaway Golf including; The Epic Flash drivers, Apex Hybrids, and Apex/Apex Pro Irons with some carryover from the previous Rogue line and several upgraded shaft options to optimize every golfer’s set. This year we will be doing several in-house fitting days with the first being on February 9th. Each fitting will last approximately 60-90 minutes and will include the standard static measurements as well as using Trackman 4 to provide in-depth ball flight analysis. Please feel free to email [email protected] with any questions or to schedule a fitting. This time of year, fitness is on everyone’s mind, myself included. As we continue to watch the game of golf evolve, the link between fitness and success becomes stronger every day. Recently, I have been reaching out to and working out with other certified Titleist Performance Institute instructors to create a network of health, fitness, and golf professionals to create a team approach to helping every part of the golfer become better! The overall mission of this program is to know that what you are doing in the gym is not going to negatively impact your golf swing and that your golf swing will specifically benefit from your time in the gym.
