Stillwater celebrates all four seasons
Stillwater is truly a city of four seasons of community involvement , from a world championship snow-sculpting event in the winter , to sailboats floating by on a hot summer afternoon , to droves of leaf-peepers who wander along the St . Croix River in the fall , there ’ s always something for everyone .
Between festivals , community productions , an ever-growing selection of local restaurants , staying home can always be a treat for the city ’ s 20,000 residents . It ’ s also a featured destination for many throughout central Minnesota and Wisconsin . Stillwater is known as a favorite spot for antique and art lovers and shoppers of all interests . Bicyclists ride the loop trails through town , across the old lift bridge , into Wisconsin , and over the new high bridge . Stillwater is also a destination for weddings , friends ’ weekends , and family retreats .

Lumberjack Days in July celebrates the history of timber in the valley with concerts , parades , log rolling , a downhill derby and much , much more . Lumberjack Days will be held this year from July 19-21 .
With organizations like Summer Tuesdays and the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce , the city sees Fourth of July fireworks and festivities , Summer Tuesdays – several Tuesday nights of family fun – and classic cars in the summer ; Harvest Fest ( with a pumpkin drop !), Rivertown Art Festival , and Trick or Treat Main Street in fall ; and Hometown for the Holidays , with Victorian Carolers , a gingerbread-building contest , and a twinkling tree-lighting party in
December .
In a tradition that dates back decades , the Washington County Historical Society holds an ice cream social each January and hosts many informational programs throughout the year .
