The local economy in the St . Croix Valley is boosted by organizations that support business .
The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce is an independent nonprofit that seeks to serve , promote , and advocate for member businesses while enriching the life of the community .
The Chamber continues to host events year-round , such as the World Snow Sculpting Championship , Food Truck Extravaganza , Lumberjack Days Parade , Rivertown Fall Art Festival , and Hometown for the Holidays . They also run programs that enhance leadership skills in professionals , help young people in the beginning of their careers , and bring women in business together , in addition to promoting local businesses with ribbon cutting events and marketing .
The Stillwater Chamber of Commerce isn ’ t the only organization helping out local businesses .
In the past year , St . Croix Valley Foundation awarded $ 60,000 in grants to 18 nonprofit art programs in St . Croix Valley , $ 33,000 to 12 musical programs in school districts throughout the valley , and $ 156,000 to 26 nonprofits addressing mental health needs .
While the chamber represents
businesses throughout the area , the Main Street Independent Business Alliance focuses on locally-owned businesses that make up downtown Stillwater .
One such independent and locally-owned downtown business , River Market Community Co-op , is helping local farmers , producers , and food processors fund projects with their Growers , Grazers , Makers and Bakers grant program .
Discover Stillwater promotes tourism through annual marketing campaigns , an official visitors guidebook and map , event sponsorships , and its website . They also encourage Stillwater area residents to stay connected with tourist attractions as a way to help plan weekend fun or guide visiting friends and family .
