INTRODUCING THE DEAN: Dr. Kusha Haraksingh
Dr. Kusha Haraksingh has been appointed as the foundation Dean of the Faculty of Law, UWI, St. Augustine. This follows the decision of University Council to establish three full faculties of law in Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago with effect from 1 st August 2012.
Dr Haraksingh hopes to establish the study of Law in the Faculty at St. Augustine as a vibrant academic pursuit, with the full exploration of the role of law in a multicultural setting, as a tool for sustainable development, with students being able to take advantage of the synergies available in neighbouring Faculties and Institutes such as SALISES, IGDS and the Institute of International Relations; a Faculty providing the best possible grounding for a seamless transition to professional law school; a Faculty offering opportunities for advanced graduate work; a Faculty delivering a product that helps country and region in anchoring respect for the rule of law, and in celebrating the liberating possibilities of a society founded on merit and equality of opportunity.
