GOINGS ON
MR. BREWER RETIRES
By Mrs. Schmitz
It is with great sadness that the middle school bids a fond farewell to Mr. Brewer, one of the founding
teachers of St. Austin. We know that he DESERVES to retire, but we really aren’t ready to let him go! He
has left his mark on every aspect of the middle school, and his leadership, common sense, spirit of
cooperation, and sincere desire for the very best for each and every student will be sorely missed. Here is
a man for both students and fellow teachers to look up to for inspiration and encouragement. We look
forward to having Mr. Councilor as a part of the middle school, and although he has big shoes to fill, we
anticipate that he will do so with both style and grace.
Can we please hear it one last time? “Let’s create a lunchroom!”
ST. AUSTIN TALENT SHOW
By Gregory Davis
This year's talent show had a variety of terrific acts with performances ranging from
dancing to magic to jumping rope. I participated, myself, by putting on a magic show.
Everybody's acts were very entertaining. They were all so good that the judges had a
difficult time deciding upon a winner. Finally, though, they selected the winners. The
lower school winner was first grader, Colette Klein, who performed an Irish dance
routine. The middle school winner was sixth grader, Maggie Eilermann, who played the
piano. The all-school winner was sixth grader, Carolina Rivero, who sang, "How Far I'll
Go."
A huge "thank you" to Student Council for hosting this St. Austin tradition.
FATHER DAUGHTER DINNER DANCE
By Carolina Rivero
This year’s annual Father-Daughter Dinner Dance was as much fun for the dads as
it was for the girls. The nigh started off with a game called “The Couples’ Game.” Each
father-daughter couple had stickers on their backs that had the names of famous
couples. They went around asking the other couples for clues in order to guess their
own famous pair. Next, they played games to find out how much the fathers and the
daughters knew about each other. After the fun games, the night concluded with dinner
and dancing. Thank you, Mrs. Rivero for planning such a fun night!
