13 CAREERS: FINANCE & ACCOUNTING This is the science that describes the management, creation and study of money, banking, credit, investments, assets, and liabilities. Finance consists of financial systems that are applicable to public, private and government sectors. Accounting is the theory and system of setting up, maintaining, and auditing the books of a firm; it is the art of analyzing financial positions and operating results from the study of its sales, purchases, overhead, as distinguished from bookkeeping. Ability and skill to: • Review and analyze operating and project expenditure reports. • Understand the basic rate setting process. • Create a budget spreadsheet and explain how projects and operations are funded. “ SSIP CityWorks has helped me grow a lot.
