15 CAREERS: ARCHITECTURE & URBAN DESIGN Architecture is both the process and product of planning, designing, and construction. When related specifically to buildings and other physical structures, architecture includes the planning, designing, and constructing of form, space, and ambiance that take into consideration function, technical, social, environmental, and aesthetic impacts. Ability and skill to: • Determine the requirements and best practice components for systems and practices to meet client’s needs. • Solve a variety of problems in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Set task priorities, evaluate results, and coordinate with others. • Able to operate a variety of software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, MS Office, Adobe, Power Point, and 3D Studio, and utilize office equipment such as plotters.
