The Contractors Assistance Center helps these businesses build capacity and provides technical/administrative assistance to help make them competitive candidates for contracting opportunities around the City and on capital projects like the SSIP. Additionally, in 2018, the Center began a partnership with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights (LCCR) to assist small local businesses with legal issues and SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM | Grey. Green. Clean. to facilitate access to free or low-cost legal services. The Center and LCCR collaborated on several different events including a business law basics informational session, a free legal advice clinic for entrepreneurs, and a presentation about how to manage business taxes to help reduce costs. The Center and LCCR have future presentations and clinics planned to assist small businesses with their operations and as they pursue upcoming SSIP or other City projects.
