Users can switch between a historic map with historic water features labelled and a present day map with current water features and infrastructure labelled. The LOS and flood resilience framework call for the integration of grey infrastructure (e.g. upsized pipes and pumps) with green infrastructure (e.g. rain gardens, permeable pavement, detention basins) to address the aforementioned improvements, where feasible. Watershed Storytellers – Features video interviews of San Franciscans in their watersheds, sharing their watershed story. Interviewees share their community perspective on the unique characteristics of their watershed, how it has changed over the years and their vision for the future of watersheds and stormwater management. In 2018 the San Francisco Discover Your Watershed Project was launched for the public to learn about San Francisco’s historic watersheds and waterways, the eight urban watersheds of today, and existing infrastructure that moves sewage and stormwater throughout the City. The project includes place making signage in each watershed, online interactive maps and the watershed storytellers video series. The project helps educate the public on the historic water features of San Francisco and how they connect to our combined sewer system today. The public can also learn about their watershed and see how improvement projects help protect public health and the environment through green and grey infrastructure.
