the lines of Prapatti, Prapattisvarupa, Prapatti-adhikara and on the mode of performance. In
essence it had the following points – “The Lord is the foremost preceptor. Just as how he
incarnated as Gitacharya and protected his subjects, so does an Acharya protect his disciples
by virtue of his spiritual upadeshams. Similar to the example of helping a destitute discover
the immense treasure in his own house, an Acharya, imparts the essence of tattva-hitapurusharthas to deserving disciples, enlightening them and finally making them attain
deliverance by adopting the means of upayanushtanam. The scriptures unequivocally quote
that there is no menas by which one could ever repay one’s Acharya for the upakarams that
they do. The lines of the mokshashastra say that there might be many teachers in this world,
but the one that taught prapatti as a sure means of attaining moksham is indeed the
Acharya in the real sense. Our scriptural collects of shruti and smrtis also say in one voice
that deliverance could be attained by seeking one such Acharya alone. There is no better
God than one’s Acharya. Lord Narayana is the Acharya and the Acharya is Lord Narayana. It
must be thought that he has manifested Himself as an Acharya to impart His teachings. That
Lord is none other than Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva. May He shower you all with His most
merciful anugrahams”.
After blessing the disciples in those regions and satiating them with the nectarine darshanabhagyam of the Lord, Swamy returned to Mysore via Bangalore. Swamy continued on the
path of his predecessors, performing Abhigamana-Ijya-aradhana kainkaryams, imparting
grantha-kalakshepams and initiating disciples into Samashrayanam and Bharanyasam.
During the early months of 1970, Swamy became indisposed. Swamy decided to handover
the duties of the daily worship of Sri Hayagriva and also the administration of the Matham
to his successor. This stands as a resounding example of Swamy’s magnanimity and
dedication towards Sri Lakshmi Hayagriva. It was everybody’s belief that the Lord Himself
spoke through Swamy on this decision. Swamy’s decision was informed to all the members
in the Matham and was also conveyed to the King and to the administration officials. The
King acceded to this request and seconded Swamy’s recommendation that Vidwan Sriman
Ananthacharya must ascend the Acharya peetham and continue the glorious tradition. He
also requested the Govt to accept this proposal which was unanimously accepted and the
Govt in 1971 on January 21st passed the order in RD 194 MEV 70 stating – “The endowment
commission of Mysore as per the letter on 26-12-70 PR 78 C 1445, stating that due to the
indisposition of the present Acharya, the recommendation of Vidwan Sriman Anantacharya
to be his successor has been accepted by the Governor of Mysore. Accordingly Sriman
Ananthacharya ascended the Acharya peetham in the august presence of Srimadabhinava
Srinivasa Parakala Swamy and became the 35th pattam Swamy with the name
“Srimadabhinava Ramanuja Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamy”.
On 06-12-72, Srimadabhinava Srinivasa Parakala Swamy, at about 11 AM ascended the
abode of paramapadam and attained his Acharya’s thiruvadi. Swamy’s thirumeni was
enshrined in the brndavanam within the Matham premises the same day.
