Vaibhavam
Sri Ranganatha Parakala Swamy was succeeded by Sri Krishna Brahmatantra Swatantra Swamy in
the year 1885 ACE. This Swamy was born in the village of Aamidela, on the banks of Pinakini,
as the second son of Sri Thathacharya, a great vidwan and the scion of Appalacharya, the author
of Saraprakashika in shalivahana 1761, vikaari samvatsaram and month of jyestha, in the asterism
of shravana. He was named after Sri Srinivasa Brahmatantra Parakala, as Krishna, whose name it
was as a gruhasta and who had foretold of his birth as he once blessed the Swamy’s father.
After receiving panchasamskaram from Sri Srinivasa Brahmatantra, he was blessed with the gift
of Hayagriva mantram from the great Acharya on the banks of river Kapila. Even at that young
age, he had acquired such proficiency in vyakarana, sahitya, alankara and allied shastras, that he
was able to produce the “Parakalaguruvijaya” that won him the title of Kavisarvabhouma.
He studied grantha chatushtayams from Sri Srinivasa Brahmatantra Parakala Swamy and was
enjoined to assume the gruhasthashrama and proceed to the samsthanam of Anegundi, at the
invitation of the ruler Sri Thirumalarya. It is here that Swamy composed Srirangaraja vilasam.
From here Swamy proceeded to Gadwal on the invitation of Sriramabhupala. Here Swamy
composed works like Karthikotsava deepika. Further, the king of Atmakur, Mukkara Sri
Seetharamabhupala invited Swamy. Here Swamy composed Sri Srinivasa vilasam. This was
followed by King Sri Rameshwara Rao of Vanaparthi inviting him, where Swamy composed
Chapetahatistuti, Uttara Rangamahatmyam, and Sri Rameshwara vijayam. Swamy continued his
journey to Kolhapur, where, at the request of King Venkatanatha Rao, Swamy composed
Nrsimha vilasam and Madanagopala mahatmyam. Swamy settled down in Vanaparthi for
sometime and was engaged in rich scholarly expositions and teachings of Darshanas to
innumerable scholars who had resorted to him.
Visiting Srirangapattana once, Sri Krishnamacharya performed Bharanyasam at the feet of Sri
Srinivasa Deshikendra Parakala Swamy. During this time, Swamy composed Acharya
Vedapadastava and Uttara Parakala Digvijayam, a champu work extolling the history of Sri
Deshikendra’s dharma digvijayam in the south at Thirupati, Srikanchi, Thiruvallur, Srirangam
and other sacred places. Deshikendra Swamy was greatly pleased to foretell that Sri
Krishnamacharya would on one day be blessed to grace the holy peetham of Sri Parakala
Matham. Returning to Vanaparthi, Swamy expounded on the puranams to deserving disciples.
He got published a rare work called “Munibhavaprakashika” that was a vyakhyanam to Srimad
bhagavatham composed by Sri Veeraraghavacharya. Several years down, Sri Ranganatha Parakala
Swamy was feeling very old and set for Sri Krishnamacharya, who offered homage to the former
along wit h the works that he had composed. After an illuminating exchange of deep
philosophical knowledge, Sri Ranganatha Parakala Swamy invested the necessary mantrams and
upadeshams on Swamy and prepared him for the high seat. Accordingly Sri Krishnamacharya
ascended the peetham as Sri Krishna Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swamy, in 1886 ACE
after the paramapadam of Sri Ranganatha Parakala Swamy.
Within a very short period, he was able to put the matham on a firm financial footing. It was
during the times of Swamy that the first Vajra-dolotsava to Sri Lakshmi Hayavadana was
