By Lindsey Bland Just sharing something I tried with Yr9 GCSE Catering to introduce healthy eating which is the focus of their next controlled assessment. The starter was an “Information Exchange”, see the slide above. This could be developed using the thinking dice and I want to try this once students start individual research into healthy eating. In groups students created a story using 1 story cube each. The story had to include the 3 lesson outcomes. In this case- 2 facts about healthy eating, describing at least 1 current healthy eating guideline and explaining why healthy eating is important. Their story also had to include reference to at least 1 image from their story cube. Once planned and written up, the group could then decide how to present their story. One group chose to share their story on the whiteboard and act the story out. I am going to try this again with another topic with this group and develop it further.
