What do you do today?
I have been in the games industry since 2004. I started as a producer and moved into game design, and now I’ m the Lead Live Designer of the game“ Gears of War”, at the Microsoft studio The Coalition in Vancouver.
How would you describe your time at the Chamber?
I really enjoyed it! However, back then the office was way out in an office park in King of Prussia, so living and working somewhere there weren’ t any sidewalks was a bit odd. I wish the office was on Broad Street like it is now. If you haven’ t seen the photos from where the office used to be, it literally looks like the building and the area from the American version of The Office.
I went to Philly often for music shows and just to hang out though, and I used to go to New York every other weekend.
What is your best memory from the internship?
We organized a few outings for the Chamber Members that were really cool. There was a small brewery in the Northern Liberties, and we also went to see the AHL team, Philadelphia Phantoms, and had a Q & A with then assistant coach Kjell Samuelsson. As a major hockey fan that was pretty cool.
What did you learn at the Chamber?
I think working and living abroad probably played a role in me moving over to Vancouver, so I would say it was definitely an experience that shaped me.
Are you involved in any Swedish organizations today?
Not really. I work with some Swedish people, I go to IKEA and get“ Julmust” and“ godis”, and the Scandinavian Culture Center here has a Midsummer thing we always go to. And cheer for the Canucks, who always have a lot of Swedish players. Elias Pettersson!
What advice would you give to interns at the Chamber?
Just enjoy your time. Organize events that you are interested in, and immerse yourself in the area.
