The LMS for attorneys currently provides training related to FEMA disaster assistance, but more training topics relating to disaster legal services will be added soon, as well as topics that aren’ t disaster specific. Attorneys can obtain CLE credit for each module completed, while preparing themselves to provide volunteer legal services in the event of a disaster.
The training for disaster relief organizations provides information about forming partnerships with other disaster organizations, understanding FEMA and its governing laws, and how to identify a disaster legal issue. This information is useful for organizations who want to improve their disaster relief programming and / or train their new staff.
UPDATED PRO BONO PROGRAM LSND has updated its pro bono program and will have new pro bono opportunities coming this year. Zachary Tomczik joined LSND on April 6 as its new director of Pro Bono & Bar Engagement. North Dakota attorneys can expect to hear from him over the next few months as he establishes pro bono communications. There is a sign-up form on the LSND website so attorneys can sign up for pro bono notifications as soon as they become available.
For attorneys also licensed in Minnesota, LSND has a partnership with Justice North, the Minnesota Legal Aid organization serving the northern part of the state. LSND can connect dual licensed attorneys with Minnesota pro bono opportunities so volunteers can double the impact they make in their communities.
CONCLUSION LSND is excited to continue developing website and LMS learning opportunities for North Dakota legal professionals and their clients. All the resources mentioned in this article can be found at lsnd. org. Our programming is possible because of the wonderful support we received from the North Dakota legal community! Please continue to show your support by signing up for our newsletter and following us on social media too. And don’ t forget to sign up for our new pro bono opportunities and training.
