The basics of cleaning with vinegar More Content Now I t’s likely that your mother or grandmother used vinegar to clean their homes. Vinegar still is cheap, effective at killing germs, nontoxic and reduces indoor air pollution. Want to give it a try? Here’s a cleaning solution recipe cour- tesy of Two Men & A Vacuum, a green cleaning company based in Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio. “This is a gentle solution you can easily make at home, ” said Cody Warren, founder of Two Men & A Vacuum. “This is great for kitchen surfaces, stainless steel and bathroom surfaces as well as tile and laminate floors. The vinegar leaves a nice shine and also adds a disinfectant. ” • Take an empty spray bottle. • Fill it with about 75 percent water. • Add about 25 percent white vinegar (4 to 5 percent acidity). • Add 3 to 4 drops of dishwashing liquid (preferably a natural brand, but any will do).
