Designed by Italian Lazzarini Design Studio the ‘ Pagurus ’ is the latest in a series of nature inspired yacht concepts with ecologically in mind .
The seventh in the series following Avanguardia , the Swan and Prodigium and the Shark , Pagurus takes inspiration from a giant crab named eponymously after its Latin translation .
Powered by sun and water the 25m yacht long amphibious catamaran has teh capability to operate both on water and land . The duality of its ‘ amphibious ’ nature also stems in the way it is propelled : while being solar powered , it can also draw energy from the water it cuts through while sailing . Akin to a crab ’ s limbs positioned sideways , the yacht too subdivides the living spaces in two side hulls , connected to each other through a bridge tower deck station .
The twin-propelled stern features a 3,540hp Caterpillar powertrain allowing for speeds of 24 knots or 20mph on land .
Able to accommodate eight passengers across five cabins with four crew members , the Pagurus was originally conceived for military use but is now being offered to the private sector , with a staggering € 24,000,000 ( US $ 29,134,800 ) price tag .
