Beyond these intriguing stone walls you ’ ll find a beautiful stretch of Catoctin Creek riffling over ledges and sandbars , with cattle often grazing in the green , green fields across the creek . The road happily continues to follow right along this Virginia Scenic River and will lure you on .
In a half-mile you ’ ll come to a small bridge over a run that feeds into the Catoctin . This is the perfect place to stop , look , and listen — it ’ s both calming and photogenic .
As it happens , it ’ s also a nice place to turn around ! Reversing direction , you ’ ll notice things you hadn ’ t on the way out . And perhaps … there ’ ll be a glass of wine , beer , or whiskey in your future — nearby .
