It ’ s a floral paradise and one of the largest retail and wholesale plant operations in Loudoun County . Legions of freshly planted herbs symmetrically arrayed and lines of hanging pots make the space beyond inviting .
“ It ’ s a passion ,” says Liz , “ and a lot of work , but it ’ s so satisfying when you start planting then come back in a month and see the progress .”
“ People who live in apartments don ’ t have yards and when they come here they are in
awe . They are greeted with all the beautiful colors . It ’ s really therapy ,” remarks Liz .
The greenhouses open in early April , and the season runs to early July . NVWG will also have a presence in the upcoming Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival ( April 23-24 ) that in the past has drawn 40,000 visitors . Their potted flowers are also sold wholesale to churches for fundraisers . During COVID that was especially appreciated by many groups .
On a typical summer weekend a hundred cars or more will fill the parking lot at the farm market . Kids will stream out of their family cars and run to the edge of the fields to kick a soccer ball around or dig in the dirt to extract a tuber . Ramesh and Liz remain dedicated to find ways to bring people together and create community over healthy farm fresh food and floral beauty . So stop by and plan to stay a while . After all it ’ s therapy !
