Family Connection Out ‘ n About in the Community
Families gathered on a cloudy Saturday , July 10 , at Georgia Mountains Health . There were lots of games , books and snacks shared . Family Connection distributed snacks , family bags of food and new children ’ s books . Along with receiving a backpack full of school supplies , children received well-checks . There were 160 children served . Of those , 100 received BMI checks with 49 being abnormal ; 97 dental screenings with 27 needing appointments ; 96 vision screenings were conducted with 28 needing further care . Local hair dressers donated their time and 35 children received back-to-school haircuts . KUDOS , GMH !

Feed Fannin to Hold Online Auction August 20-29 , 2021
Get ready for Feed Fannin ’ s online auction , August 20-29 !
The auction will go live at
www . feedfannin . com with the option to preview the items in person on August 15-16 .
This year ’ s auction will have a special focus on art : paintings , prints , photography , and beautifully hand-crafted pieces donated by local and regional artists . Auction items donated generously by local businesses and individuals also include jewelry , decorative items for your home , furniture , gift baskets full of goodies , and gift certificates for golf , theater , local dining , farm stays , and outdoor adventures such as rafting , kayaking , tubing as well as yoga and gym memberships and much more .
Once the auction has ended and participants with winning bids have been notified , they will be able to pick up their items on September 3-4 ( Friday and Saturday of Labor Day Weekend ) in the same location as the preview , at the Family Connection facility , located at 501 Fannin Industrial Park off Ada Street in Blue Ridge .
Feed Fannin is grateful for the amazing support of local merchants and service providers , and for the many talented artists who make the auction possible . The community enthusiastically participated online last year . Feed Fannin volunteers are looking forward to broad support this year as well to help the organization continue to purchase and to grow food for families , children and seniors in need in our community .
Feed Fannin pays for nearly 100 % of the food purchased from regional food banks to stock the food pantry at Family Connection year-round and donates between 7500 and 10,000 pounds of nutritious vegetables grown in its all-volunteer community garden each year for pantry clients .
Feed Fannin plans to resume holding the traditional Bowls of Hope event in March 2022 . In the meantime , please visit the organization ’ s website (
