Every year the Asian Pacific Islander Student Association at Kalamzoo College holds a cultural show called AsiaFest. This year, their theme was #ThisIs2017. The event featured K-pop dance, music and a fashion show, among other forms of cultural celebration. Students also spoke about the rise of racism towards Asian Americans and other marginalized communities and its implications, as a result of the political and social climate in the USA.

This year, the University of Missouri Asian American Association held its Lunar New Year celebration by discussing how different countries celebrate the Lunar New Year, and also held a skit about the various superstitions that many Asian countries had about this time of the year. AAA also had different stations and workshops for its attendees, including a paper fortune cookie making station, a lantern making station, a calligraphy station, and a station with the vietnamese game bầu cua cá cọp.

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at UW-Madison held its annual Lunar New Year celebration. The Gala had performances by various student groups on campus that included dance, music, comedy skits, and magic shows. At the end of the night, CSSA ended its Lunar New Year celebration with a fireworks display over Madison’s Lake Mendota.
