Dear friends and neighbors ,
Budding flowers and blooming trees are right around the corner , and I can ’ t wait for you to see what ’ s in store at the Glenview Park District this Spring ! As we patiently wait for warmer weather , I am here to share good news and upcoming programs and events .
Now in its third year , the Judy Beck Grant program is awarding $ 12,890 to eight community projects . The grant was established by The Beck Family Foundation and the Hurvis family to support generations of new conservation leaders and to continue the legacy of dedicated environmentalist and former Park Board Commissioner Judy Beck . Projects include a nursery school rainbow garden , indigenous medicine and pollinator garden programs , beekeeping and birdwatching programs , and more . Learn all about it on our website .
I am also pleased to share that the Glenview Park District was awarded the Illinois Park and Recreation Association ’ s ( IPRA ) Champions for Change Award at the IAPD / IPRA Soaring to New Heights annual conference awards luncheon on Friday , January 27 , at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Chicago . The Champions for Change award is presented to the top Park District , Forest Preserve , Conservation , Special District or Park and Recreation Department with unique and exemplary practices of increasing access and fostering diversity and inclusion within its community and organization . This award means a lot to all of us because it ’ s an early recognition of the transformational work our wonderful Park District staff has begun to make the Park District a more inclusive and welcoming place for all of our employees , patrons and community members .
