Figure , hockey or speed skates can be worn , while gloves , shin guards , a neck guard and helmet are required .

Under the coaching of Northbrook Speedskating Club , learn the basics of speed skating , such as position , straightaway , corners and starts . After learning the basics , participants will have the skills needed to join the team .

Under the coaching of the Northbrook Speed Skating Club , class curriculum provides motivation to continue improving skating skills . Participants should have passed the Learn to Speed Skate class or have instructor approval prior to registering .

No skating required ! Broomball and tennis ball hockey are sports similar to ice hockey — where you can sharpen your skills and have some fun ! Both games are played in your shoes / boots . Players must wear a helmet with a shield or cage .
