THE ENERGY OF PHILADELPHIA
Of course, no Philadelphia convention would be complete without embracing the city’ s spirit.
The Mummers brought unmistakable energy and personality to the week, a uniquely Philadelphia celebration that added color and vibrancy to the opening festivities. Their presence reminded us that conventions are not sterile gatherings— they are living experiences shaped by the host city.
The exhibit hall grand opening was another highlight. As the doors opened and attendees poured in, the buzz was palpable. Longtime corporate partners showcased innovation. New exhibitors introduced emerging technologies and services. Conversations flowed between vendors and coaches, not merely as transactions, but as collaborations.
The exhibit hall remains one of the most dynamic spaces at convention— a place where ideas move quickly, partnerships are formed and the business of soccer intersects with the passion for it.
RECONNECTING AND BUILDING FORWARD
If you asked attendees what they valued most about the week, many would likely say the same thing: the people.
Convention is where you reconnect with a mentor who gave you your first opportunity. It is where you meet the coach whose webinar you attended last spring. It is where administrators share solutions to common challenges. It is where job opportunities are discovered and lifelong friendships are formed.
For first-time attendees, there can be an initial sense of being overwhelmed. But what consistently stands out is how quickly that feeling shifts to belonging. A handshake turns into a conversation. A conversation turns into a shared meal. By the end of the week, strangers become colleagues.
That sense of belonging is not accidental. It is cultivated. It is why we emphasize that United Soccer Coaches is more than a membership— it is a professional home.
MISSION IN MOTION
Throughout the week, one idea continued to surface: our responsibility to carry the association forward while honoring its roots.
Legacy members built this foundation. They established standards of education and professionalism that elevated coaching nationwide. The next generation will build upon that foundation, integrating new tools, perspectives and strategies that reflect the modern game.
Our role as an association is to ensure that both groups feel seen, valued and supported.
Philadelphia 2026 affirmed that we are on the right path. We are committed to being a space where high school coaches, youth directors, college assistants, professional managers, athletic administrators and industry partners all feel connected to a larger purpose.
We are committed to being a place where ideas are shared openly and respectfully. We are committed to being a place where growth never stops.
LOOKING AHEAD TO KANSAS CITY
As the week came to a close and attendees made their way to airports and train stations, the conversations had already shifted to what’ s next.
Kansas City 2027 awaits.
Each convention builds on the last. The relationships strengthened in Philadelphia will continue throughout the year— on fields, in classrooms, in boardrooms and online. The lessons learned will shape preseason plans and leadership strategies. The connections made will lead to new collaborations.
And when we gather again in Kansas City, we will do so with renewed purpose— bringing with us both tradition and innovation, legacy and new energy.
That is the strength of United Soccer Coaches.
Philadelphia reminded us that, while the game continues to evolve, the need for community, education and shared mission remains constant. We are not simply hosting an annual event. We are stewarding a profession.
To every coach and administrator who joined us in January— thank you. To those who will join us in the future— we are building this space with you in mind.
WE WILL SEE YOU IN KANSAS CITY IN 2027. n
