The years spent having to knock on doors and make cold calls while working in telecommunications has given Lamont a certain level of confidence about finding construction clients . “ Not only am I not afraid of hearing a ‘ no ,’ but the clients that I connect with in the construction industry are already looking for a contractor , so I only have to show them that DCM is their best choice for the job .”
Currently , DCM is working on a window replacement project at the Hayward Veterans Building for Alameda County , is waiting for a commercial job to start in Berkeley , and is bidding on a flooring contract for a low-income housing apartment complex .
One of Lamont ’ s favorite past projects was creating a partition wall at a San Francisco firehouse to separate the fire truck parking bay from the firefighters ’ workout room . “ Without the partition wall , the exhaust fumes were drifting right into their workout area , which could cause health issues ,” he explains . “ It was a relatively simple job , but very gratifying because it helped protect our first responders , and they were so grateful to no longer be inhaling those fumes while working out .
