editor ' s notes
This was a quarter full of harvest ! We at the SLAS Times have not only worked on the Quarter Three magazine , but also the yearbook . As the editor , I am grateful that the SLAS Times team carried on their diligent work for this wonderful magazine .
Within this quarter , many events happened in the SLAS community . Students have become more engaged in school activities and freely expressed their talents . The History Fair that took place from March 16 to 17 was undoubtedly one of the best events that SLAS has held . This event allowed students to present their history knowledge while working with others to unleash their creativity and imaginativeness . This year ’ s History Fair had more students participating , and thus students were better able to see the diverse topic and designs . When I visited the History Fair , I was amused by the fancy and enormous 3-D art that students created . Another event that is worth mentioning was the History Political Debate . The debate was not only sharp and intense , but students also provided tons of insightful thoughts and opinions about how to improve our environment that made these debates even more memorable .
Other than the events happening in our SLAS community , in the SLAS Times team , we focused on writing long interview and editorial articles . Further , with the passion to understand more about students ’ opinions in our magazine and other various topics , we organized a poll that consisted of 52 questions . We were happy to see that more than half of the SLAS secondary students responded to this poll , which is a quite representative sample . One of the most exciting things about the poll is that we have decided on the name for the mascot – Carmen . Although I already said this in the previous editor ’ s note , I still want to emphasize that the hard work of the SLAS Times team put into this magazine allowed us to be more united and produce the finest and highquality articles and designs .
With all that said , I would like you all to proceed to the amazing articles and events that we as SLAS students did this quarter .
