Happy Spring 2022 and welcome to our latest issue of Contractor Tools ! We hope that this new year finds you on the rebound from the significant challenges of the past two years . Our Contractor Development Program ( CDP ) team continues to offer a range of services to strengthen and support local small and diverse contractors in their public works endeavors .
During 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 , CDP hosted webinars addressing Change Orders Construction Contract Terms , Managing and Tracking Change Orders in Real Time , Marketing Tips for LBEs , and Financial Project and Strategic Planning .
In February 2022 , as part of CDP ’ s District Outreach , we hosted Diversity , Equity & Inclusion in San Francisco Contracting Opportunities with Supervisor Shamann Walton . In this issue , we feature on page 3 , an in-depth discussion between Supervisor Walton and Ingrid Merriwether , CEO of Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services – administrator of the City and County of San Francisco ’ s Contractor Development Program .
On page 15 , we take a deep-dive into the City of San Francisco ’ s innovative Contractor Accelerated Payment Program ( CAPP ), exploring how its history , purpose and how it helps small contractors gain access to participating in public works projects .
Our two featured contractors – Joshua Kitching , of Bay Area Pipe & Equipment , Inc ., and Tana Harris , of Harris Hoisting , Inc ., provide inspiring examples of small contractors filling important niches that support the success of the broader Bay Area construction industry .
