Discipline Summaries
A lawyer was admonished after clear and convincing evidence of a violation of Rule 1.4 N . D . R . Prof . Conduct was found for failing to promptly respond to a client ’ s reasonable requests for information . A client ’ s request for that information assists in the client ’ s ability to make informed decisions regarding their representation . In this instance , the attorney failed to provide the client with a bill , after one had been requested , which outlined the tasks the attorney had completed within the representation and the associated fees for the work .
A lawyer was admonished after clear and convincing evidence of a violation of Rule 1.4 N . D . R . Prof . Conduct was found for failing to reasonably communicate with the clients regarding discovery and settlement offer matters . It was specifically found that the testimony of the complainants regarding the communication that had occurred was more credible than that of the lawyer and was corroborated by information within the lawyer ’ s file .

Attorneys assigned to Reporting Group 1 will be required to report CLE hours for the time-period July 1 , 2018 , to June 30 , 2021 . Report of Compliance is due July 31 , 2021 . An email notice will be sent to attorneys in Reporting Group 1 . As a reminder , self-study / ondemand hours are limited to 15 per reporting period as per policy 1.15 as listed below .
