Auxiliarist Halligan founded SARDET ( Search and Rescue DETachment ) Wilmington , Delaware with her 1 st husband . Carol was thoroughly involved in the boat Crew Program .
Her flotilla Commander , Andy Crowley , has been in touch with her husband , John Halligan ( Retired , 4-9 ), the family and the funeral director . The family
wishes for the Auxiliary to perform honors for Carol .
We will not be pallbearers , but will stand watch at the casket , do a Crossing the Bar Ceremony and line up as the casket passes by . It is not sure at this time if we will do the graveside honors , but we should plan on it .
The visitation will be at McCrery Funeral Home , 3710 Kirkwood Highway , Wilmington DE 19720 , Friday 16 April from 10 -11 am with a cemetery service at Grace lawn Cemetery , 2220 N . lived for the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary . The Uniform of the Day is Service Dress Blue with Combination Cap preferred and a black or dark blue mask or appropriate civilian attire . While this NOGI has been distributed District-wide we are asking DCAAPTs to please reach out to your Division Commanders and Flotilla Commanders ASAP to assure the best showing of honor for a life well spent in the service of others . Carol was well known and respected throughout the whole District and especially in Divisions 1 & 4 .
