Greetings Shipmates from the Western Area of 5th Northern !
Spring has sprung and our members are preparing for what will hope to be a promising operational season . It seems most of the Flotillas have taken advantage of the time to get any necessary training completed during the winter and early spring months , getting ahead of the preparation curve . In some cases , the training is complete and awaiting the “ GO ” word . Our members want to get out there and continue to serve the public as they have in years past .
While our members have had our share of challenges and obstacles due to the “ C ” word , it always amazes me how resilient this organization has been . People keep stepping up to find a way to meet the challenges , even when evaluating and facing the risk versus reward . I have had the privilege of reading many of your meeting minutes on both a Flotilla and Division level . Yes , I really do read them ! When I read about your activity , I am very proud and honored to share that with the EXCOM and represent you as the District Captain .
J . Douglas Willwerth District Captain — West
U . S . Coast Guard Auxiliary 5th District-Northern Region
I wish all of you a safe and rewarding remainder of your spring and start of the operational season . Please continue to be diligent and cautious in your training since we have been away from our practice for over a year .
Take Care !
Semper Paratus , Doug
