Description of Duties :
AUX SUPPORT REQUEST 2021-02 IMAST Member
Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay ( SDB ) is soliciting Auxiliary volunteers from D5NR to join the SDB Incident Management Auxiliary Support Team ( IMAST ). Members of this team provide support for active duty , civilian , and reserve personnel during exercise and actual response operations requiring activation of the SDB Incident Command Post ( ICP ).
Selectees should expect initial team assignment to Check-In / Status Recorder duties working under the supervision of and with other Auxiliarists . After successfully demonstrating their expertise using IMSS , volunteers can pursue further training and qualification in other Incident Command System ( ICS ) disciplines .
IMAST program managers make every effort to coordinate well in advance for team member participation in scheduled exercises . Although not a requirement for participation , Auxiliarists who wish to participate should consider having a candid conversation their employer to resolve potential work conflicts that might arise in an unscheduled ( emergency ) activation scenario
Skillset Needed :
Auxiliarists selected for these duties must be current in all core training areas and must have completed the Incident Command System ( ICS ) 200 , and ICS 800 courses . They must also have a current , favorable PSI and agree to complete the Cyber Awareness Challenge within one ( 1 ) year if they have not already done so . Volunteers who meet these prerequisites will be scheduled to attend an IMAST Basic Orientation Class where they will learn about team operations and how to use the Incident Management Software System ( IMSS ) to support ICP operations .
Auxiliarists on this team will receive priority consideration for selection to attend Coast Guard ICS courses with open slots for Auxiliarists . They will also have an opportunity to participate as equal partners in a management team charged with coordinating regional response and recovery from maritime disasters or assuring public safety during National Special Security Events ( NSSE ) such as the 2016 Democratic National Convention .
