Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m married to Brenda with four children, Jack, Aoife, Fiona and Tomas. I love hurling, coaching and sing songs. I live at the foot of the Blackstairs Mountain which I still enjoy jogging and walking.

Is the job as ICT Manager what you expected?

Yes, still at the early stages so ask me that question in a years time!

What is a typical work day like for you?

I like to start early and I’m usually based in Ardcavan. I’m out of the office about 2 days a week visiting sites and attending meetings. I’ve no set pattern just yet, everyday brings a different challenge.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

The scones that Mary Barron buys most Friday’s are worth taking the job for!

What are you hoping to change about the role?

The key thing is that I and my IT Department team deliver on the Digital Strategies for Schools and other WWETB centres. A lot of great work as been completed but we are not there yet. We need to have the IT structures in place that will future proof the WWETB organisation as it grows and meets the demand for ICT Services in a very changing and challenging environment.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I still enjoy playing hurling but when you get over 40 it gets more difficult! I ran a marathon over a year ago and might complete another before my knees give in. My biggest test outside of work is managing my two teenage daughters. They are very like their mammy thank god so maybe the marathon would be a less taxing endeavour.
