Music Generation Waterford launch Uilleann Piping Classes

Music Generation Waterford in partnership with Na Píobairí Uilleann held two very succesfull Free Try the Pipes sessions last month, one in Waterford City and one in Dungarvan.

Children and young people came along on the day to enjoy learning about and trying out the uilleann pipes. They are known as one of the most difficult instruments to master, but when mastered they make the most beautiful of sounds. Pipers Gay McKeon and Fionntan Byrne, both professional pipers, have been working with many Music Generation programs around the country in the past number of years to promote and share the love of uilleann piping amongst younger generations. Waterford City and County are lucky to have two phenomenal pipers on the door step including David Power and Dr. Jimmy O’Brien Moran. Music Generation Waterford are delighted to be working with Na Píobairí Uilleann and will begin the first of hopefully many piping classes in Waterford after Easter. Here’s to Waterford for the next generation of uilleann pipers. Places are available Thursday evening Waterford City, Saturday morning Dungarvan. Ages 11 – 18years.
