NOTICE: North Dakota CLE Commission Policy change
Carry-Over Credits
The North Dakota CLE Commission and the SBAND Board of Governors announce a revision in the CLE Commission
Policies regarding Carry-Over Credits. The revised policy is listed below.
Policy 4.4
Carry-Over Credits.
Members receiving credit hours in excess of the 45 hour minimum taken during the three-year reporting period
may carry forward a maximum of 15 hours to the next reporting period. No ethics hours may be carried forward.
NOTICE: SBAND By-Laws Change
Pursuant to the By-Laws of the State Br Association of North Dakota, specifically Section 14.1, the Board of Governors
of SBAND intends to amend the By-Laws as follows. (Changes and new languages are underlined.)
3. REPRESENTATIVES OF JUDICIAL DISTRICTS
3.2 Unless one is elected under Paragraph 3.1, a representative from each judicial district to serve on the Board of Governors of
the Association shall be selected by a district election conducted by the Association. All members of the Association within each
district, determined by the addresses of record appearing on the official roster of licensed lawyers maintained by the North Dakota
Bar Board on the sixtieth (60th) day prior to the close of the annual meeting at which the member elected would take office as a
member of the Board of Governors, are eligible to vote. The member shall be elected for a term of two years, beginning at the
close of the annual meeting following the member’s election. The member may not serve more than two consecutive elected terms.
This limitation does not prohibit someone from serving multiple terms, so long as they are not consecutive.
8. OFFICIAL ASSOCIATION PUBLICATIONS
Official publications of the Association include any written communication mailed or emailed to the members of the
Association. In determining its membership for this purpose, it is sufficient for the Association to refer to the current
roster of members maintained in good faith by the Association.
